Our Worship Ministry plays a vital role in creating a sacred and welcoming space for worship. This dedicated team prepares our sanctuary by setting up the paraments and ensuring everything is in place for a meaningful worship experience. Our ushers greet and assist congregants, while our Communion Team carefully sets up the elements for Holy Communion. We also have acolytes and crucifers who help lead our services in a way that honors our traditions and enhances our time of worship. Through their faithful service, this ministry helps create an atmosphere where all can encounter God’s presence.
Serving on the Worship Committee
Ushers
An usher at a church plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, organized, and respectful environment for all guests.
Their responsibilities include: greeting and welcoming those as they arrive, assisting with seating, distributing materials, assisting in any emergencies, managing the offering, and assisting with the sacraments. The age requirement is 10 years old with adult help or older. Background checks are required. Time requirement is serving during either the 8:30 A.M. or 11:00 A.M. service for all services of the chosen month.
Lay Readers
Lay readers play a vital role in our worship services by sharing Scripture readings and leading parts of the worship service. Their voices bring God’s Word to life, helping to engage and inspire the congregation. This ministry is open to anyone who feels called to serve, offering a meaningful way to participate in worship and deepen their faith. Whether reading a passage from the Bible or assisting in communion, lay readers help create a spiritually enriching experience for all.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is a dedicated team of volunteers who play a crucial behind-the-scenes role in preparing the church for worship. Their responsibilities include setting up and maintaining the altar, ensuring that the necessary items for the service—such as the paraments—are properly arranged and ready for use. In addition to their regular duties, the Altar Guild is responsible for preparing the church for special services such as holidays, baptisms, weddings, and funerals. Twice a year the volunteer will handle the responsibilities for the entire month.
Communion Team
The Communion Team plays a vital role in supporting the sacrament of Holy Communion during worship services. This dedicated group of volunteers is responsible for collecting, preparing and setting up the communion elements, such as bread, juice, and any other necessary items, ensuring everything is ready for the service. After the service, the Communion Team cleans and cares for the vessels used, ensuring they are properly stored and maintained for future services. Time commitment is once quarterly as we have communion on the first Sunday of every month.
Acoylte & Crucifer
Acolytes and crucifers serve during worship services. These roles are often performed by youth, but may also include adults, and are typically considered acts of service and reverence. One of the main duties of an acolyte is lighting the candles on the altar before the service begins, including the altar candles and any other candles around the sanctuary. After the service, they extinguish the candles to mark the conclusion of the worship time. The crucifer carries in the processional cross at the beginning of each service.
Greeters
Volunteering as a greeter is an important role that helps create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who enters our church. As a greeter, you'll warmly greet attendees, offer them information about services or events, and help newcomers feel comfortable and connected. The time commitment for this role is one month a year, during which you will serve on Sundays at either our 8:30 or 11:00am service, ensuring that all who attend have a positive and inviting experience as they enter the church.
