Values

  • Each child is encouraged to make Christian friendships during their faith journey.
  • Each child feels the love of Christ while on church campus through relationships with Christian adults.
  • We pray during every program or class for children and teach our children how to pray.
  • Each and every child is accepted for who they are and where they are in their faith journey.
  • We strive to be creative in every program, class, and event offered for our children.

Sunday School

At St. John's Church, we offer Sunday School at 10:00AM for children 4 years old through 5th Grade. Children are taught well known Bible stories through traditional scripture readings and activities that are age-appropriate for each class. All children learn the same story on the same Sunday so that families can continue the conversation at home. On 5th Sunday's, we have a church-wide breakfast (in our fellowship hall) during Sunday School time to encourage intergenerational fellowship. On 5th Sunday's we do not offer Sunday School.

Children's Church

Children's Church is available for children ages 5-2nd grade at 11:00AM Worship service following the Children's Moment. A volunteer will walk the children from the sanctuary to their room. During Children's Church, children explore well known Bible stories through felt boards, puzzle and coloring sheets, and activities or crafts. On 1st Sundays of the month, we bring the children back into the sanctuary to participate in Communion. On these Sundays, as parents come forward for communion, your child will be sent to you so that you may choose whether or not your child will participate in communion. In the United Methodist Church, we practice an Open Table which means that all ages are invited to partake of communion. On 2nd Sundays of the month, our kids put together Scripture Snacks that are delivered by an adult volunteer to the Piedmont Hospital (Rock Hill) waiting rooms. The kids tape comforting Bible scriptures to individual packages of crackers.

R.E.A.L. Kids

for Christ

R.E.A.L. Kids for Christ meets from 4:00 to 5:30PM every other Sunday during the school year. We start on September 9, 2018 and end on May 19, 2019. At R.E.A.L. Kids, Kindergarten through 5th graders enjoy gender specific studies to help them become strong, faithful Christians. Our R.E.A.L. girls meet in RM204 and R.E.A.L boys meet in RM 200. Both boys and girls are exploring well known Bible Stories through the Lego study called "Building Faith Brick by Brick."  For the last 30 minutes of class, the boys and girls will combine for "free play" and snack.

R.E. A. L. stands for Relationships, Encouragement, Acceptance, and Love which are 4 of our 5 Children's Ministry values.

All of our adult volunteers are screened through a background check.
