Worship Volunteers: 

Volunteering to help with our worship services is a meaningful way to contribute to the heart of our church. Every role plays a vital part in creating an atmosphere of reverence and community. Volunteers in our worship help ensure that everything runs smoothly, allowing the congregation to focus on worship and connection. Whether you're helping to set up the sanctuary, guiding attendees to their seats, or serving as part of the service, your involvement makes a significant impact in making our worship services a welcoming experience for all. Join us in this important ministry and be a part of making each service a success!

Volunteer Opportunities:

Ushers: An usher at a church plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, organized, and respectful environment form all guests. 

Their responsibilities include: Greeting and welcoming those as they arrive, assisting with seating, distributing materials, assisting in any emergencies, managing the offering, and assisting with the sacraments. The age requirement is 10 years old with adult help or older.  Background checks are required.  Time requirement is serving during either the 8:30am or 11:00am service for all services of the chosen month.

Greeters: Greeter at St. John's plays a crucial role in making our attendees feel welcome, comfortable, and connected as soon as they arrive.  Their responsibilities include: welcoming congregants, providing information, engaging with new guests, & creating a positive atmosphere.  Greeters should be friendly, observant, a good communicator, and knowledgable.  Children may serve with an adult.  Time requirement is serving prior to either the 8:30am or 11:00am service for all services of the chosen month.

Acolyte & Crucifer: Acolytes and crucifers serve during worship services. These roles are often performed by youth, but may also include adults, and are typically considered acts of service and reverence. One of the main duties of an acolyte is lighting the candles on the altar before the service begins, including the altar candles and any other candles around the sanctuary. After the service, they extinguish the candles to mark the conclusion of the worship time.  The crucifer carries in the processional cross at the beginning of service.

Altar Guild: The Altar Guild is a dedicated team of volunteers who play a crucial behind-the-scenes role in preparing the church for worship. Their responsibilities include setting up and maintaining the altar, ensuring that the necessary items for the service—such as the paraments—are properly arranged and ready for use. In addition to their regular duties, the Altar Guild is responsible for preparing the church for special services such as holidays, baptisms, weddings, and funerals.  Time requirements is twice a year the volunteer will handle the responsibilities for the entire month.

Communion Team: The Communion Team plays a vital role in supporting the sacrament of Holy Communion during worship services. This dedicated group of volunteers is responsible for collecting, preparing and setting up the communion elements, such as bread, juice, and any other necessary items, ensuring everything is ready for the service.  After the service, the Communion Team cleans and cares for the vessels used, ensuring they are properly stored and maintained for future services.  Time commitment is once quarterly as we have communion on the first Sunday of every month.
